With its fantastic combination of gambling high rollers, upright religious workers and quibbling lovers, Guys and Dolls is a well-loved musical that has been revived multiple times on Broadway. Brown College's production of the play, directed by Brown junior Mike Clendenen and Brown sophomore Kensey King, valiantly strives for another great revival.

Dear Denver: When it is just "too loud"

Dear Denver, I usually like this column, but I have to say the advice given to the person being sexually harassed ("Dear Denver: Advice on Poaching, The Man", Oct. 23) was terrible! For one thing, it is really inappropriate, sad and upsetting to see the victim of such harassment being made fun of by someone to whom he or she is reaching out for help.

Michael Jackson was the Elvis Presley of his generation. He was an immensely talented performer whose inner demons caused secret addictions that tragically shortened his influential life. On Thursday, Oct. 29th, I was invited by Red Bull's representative for SHSU to attend the Red Bull Soundclash. I had never been to an event quite like this, being that I mostly frequent local shows with small audiences. I must say that this night was spectacular and engaging to the senses.

Pine Log, Stephen F. Austin State University, TX

More often than not, superstardom in Hollywood doesn't pan out for actors. In some cases, actors ascend to the ranks of being number one on the call sheet but find that they aren't cut out to carry movies. In other cases, an actor simply doesn't come into his or her own until they've aged a few years.

Rent worth the cost

The Rice Thresher, Rice University, TX

Not many musicals carry the lofty expectations of Rent. A 12-year run on Broadway and a subsequent Hollywood butchering have placed the play firmly in the American pop- consciousness, and the play brings a cast of memorable characters and strong voices.
