Former U.S. Rep, Aggie Joe Skeen buried in Roswell

Former U.S. Rep. Joe Skeen, Texas A&M Class of 1950, was buried Thursday at a funeral service in Roswell, N.M.
Skeen, who died Dec. 7 at the age of 76, was a representative from New Mexico from 1908 to 2003. Skeen served in the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Air Force Reserve. Skeen was the first soil and water conservation engineer for the Zuni and Ramah Navajo tribes. He worked on the boards of the New Mexico Cattle Growers Association and the New Mexico Wool Growers Association and was president of the Lincoln County Farm Bureau.
Skeen served in the New Mexico State Senate from 1960 to 1970, as well as chairing the New Mexico Republican party from 1963 to 1965. Skeen also served as a delegate to the 1964 Republican National Convention.
