How warm has it been?Warm enough for Chicagoans David Skidmore and his wife, Kori Levos Skidmore, to enjoy cocktails on their balcony -- in January. Warmer, in fact, than ever recorded for much of the USA. * November 2001 through January 2002 ranked as the nation's warmest such period since 1895, when the National Climatic Data Center started to keep records. Several cities had their hottest January days, including Richmond, Va. (81 degrees), and Raleigh-Durham, N.C. (79). In Wisconsin, this January was its warmest in 108 years of record keeping.
