Aggie football fans breathed a collective sigh of relief Monday when Klein Collins running back Michael Goodson verbally committed to Texas A&M over the University of Southern California.

Goodson's recruitment was a roller coaster ride. Over the summer, he committed to Oklahoma State, only to de-commit and flirt with other schools such as University of Texas and The University of Miami. But in the end, A&M was just the best fit for him.

"We (he and his father) sat down and talked about it last night, wrote some things down on both schools, and after we got done, we just figured A&M was the best place for me," Goodson said in an interview with Rivals.com. "Playing at USC would have been great, but with the success they've had, you'll always be in that shadow."

Goodson, who split time as the No. 1 running back in the state with Coppell's Emmanuel Moody, took over the spot for good after wowing scouts at the Army All American game in San Antonio. Currently, he is ranked as the No. 4 running back in the nation and No. 32 prospect overall.

When Goodson joins A&M next fall, it will have a legitimate "home run threat" to go with the power running of sophomore to be Jorvorskie Lane. Next year, they will combine with senior Courtney Lewis to create an exciting backfield.
