The Memorial Student Center will sponsor the 52nd annual Student Conference on National Affairs (SCONA) starting Thursday. Two cadets created SCONA in 1955. In past years, speakers have included former President Lyndon B. Johnson, journalist Thomas DeFrank and a number of ambassadors and senators.

This year's topic is "Fostering Stable Relationships with Non-Democratic Nations." Speakers include former U.S. Rep. Charlie Wilson; Kenneth Cohen, vice president of public affairs for Exxon Mobil Corporation; B.G. Ryan, a retired Brigadier General; senior research fellow at John F. Kennedy School of Government's Belfer Center (Harvard University) and J. Brady Anderson, the former U.S. ambassador to Tanzania.

SCONA begins at 9 a.m. Thursday and will conclude on Saturday evening. For more information, visit http://scona.tamu.edu.
