Davy Jones' Locker an amazing import
By: Amber Holubec
DJL consists of David Jones, lead vocals; Vidar Godtfedsen, vocals and guitar; Morten Oya, vocals and bass; Stian Herdal, guitar and Tor André Fidjestad, drums. This dynamic five-piece group, influenced by bands like Fair, Dead Poetic and Emery, have created a rock sound that you cannot get out of your head, even if you tried - although you wouldn't want to. Listeners who love music from Dashboard Confessional to The Foo Fighters to Underoath will enjoy the sound and vocals of DJL.
"Stop Praising Yours" is truly one of the band's best, with a driving melody, harmonious chords and a captivating chorus, you will find yourself singing throughout the day: "Won't you sleep tonight/ and let me dry your eyes."
Though front man David Jones has a voice that many hard rock singers would kill for, one can really appreciate his talent when he slows it down a bit in "Overcome." This song shows off the talent of each band member, bringing a unity that is hard to find. "The Lonely Hearts" produces a deadly force. Jones does not hesitate when interacting with the audience, jumping off the stage running through the overwhelming crowd, while still singing in tune.
DJL delivers on album and onstage. DJL will be playing at Norway's Quart Festival in July, but if you cannot fly over to see them, I highly recommend you buy their CD or download songs to your iPod. To say this talented band is anything less than mind-blowing would be an understatement.
