Jerry Strawser was selected to serve as interim provost and executive vice president Wednesday by Texas A&M interim president Eddie J. Davis.
Strawser, who serves as dean of the Lowry Mays Business School, was picked for the position because of his innovative leadership and a temperament that makes him a perfect match for the highest academic position at A&M, Davis said in the memorandum announcing Strawser's appointment.
During his tenure as dean of the business school, Strawser has raised more than $40 million for named chairs, professorships and fellowships, and has made inroads in diversifying the school's leadership and faculty, Davis noted.
