"The interest in red light cameras was not sparked by monetary gains; it arose from the larger issue of safety." Show me the study that shows that accidents caused by motorists running red lights are the leading cause of deaths and injuries in College Station! The larger issue of safety is in all of those unsolved Northgate beatings, stabbings, robberies and car thefts. That's where the surveillance cameras need to go. Yeah, maybe they won't stop a crime, but in the end they serve as a deterrent.

I also don't worry about red light cameras nor do I worry about the cop on the side of the road pointing his radar at me because I don't speed. Funny how only the people who want to get away with breaking the law are up in arms about this. (Continued…)

So something has to be the "leading cause of deaths and injuries in College Station" in order for it to be dangerous? Aside from the safety, anyone who has ever driven in College Station can tell you that there have been many times where they have had to wait at a green light for 2, 3, or even 4 cars to make a left turn after those cars' light turned red.
