City of Bryan makes a bad neighbor

Hello fellow Aggies and residents of the wonderful little city of College Station. I believe I should make known the ever-annoying presence that is the city of Bryan. I am tired of reading articles not only in The Battalion, but articles online that make very clear the criminal nature of the residents of Bryan, Texas. I am tired of reading the articles telling of how a Bryan resident was linked to 11 of more than 40 car burglaries. Do I even need to remind everyone of the multiple homicides/stabbings that occurred on Northgate, thanks to the criminal activities of Bryan residents? I would also like to make common knowledge that Bryan is simply a town that exists solely to provide resources/labor to the University and the University's subsystems. Furthermore, why does Bryan put a limit on the number of college students living under one roof, hence driving the number of college students living in Bryan down? That is a clear-cut case of the dog biting the hand that feeds it. The ignorance of Bryan residents is truly amazing - it shocks my mind that these people (the Bryan residents) actually hate the people (College students, the economy of this town) that give them sustenance.

This is absurd. Yes, I would say Bryan has a lower-income then CS, but a lot of students do live in Bryan (I am one). And, if students were more well-behaved, perhaps the residents wouldn't have wanted to take their neighborhoods back because of the loud parties students have. (Continued…)

Umm....first off are you really going to try and argue that Bryan was here before College Station or the university, I do not even believe that I need to provide a rebuttal to that ridiculous statement. (Continued…)

First off...I'm pretty sure that residents of both towns hate college students. I think you've made some pretty unfair generalizations about those living in Bryan. (Continued…)

Kyle,

Your views, in your mail call in in subsequent comments, show me just how ignorant you actually are. I really am sad to see that someone like you is an Aggie. (Continued…)

most people who live in college station have rose-colored glasses about how wonderful and crime-free it is. both places have their fair share of crimes concentrated in different areas. (Continued…)

kyle does have a point, if you had to choose a place to live, and cost was no issue, most people would choose college station. If not for the fact its closer to campus then because it is, or at least feels, safer. (Continued…)

Whether or not he is "rich" or that his parents pay for everything doesn't change the fact that he is passing unfair judgement on Bryan. His comments are full of arrogance and ignorance, qualities that an Aggie should not flaunt. (Continued…)

Ok, Ok, Ok people. No need to bash upon someone who is upset that a neighboring town more or less lives and dies by the university. Were some of his comments and generalizations a bit one sided? Yes. (Continued…)
