Texas A&M runs up All-American awards tally

The Texas A&M track and field team had 14 athletes earn 20 All-America awards at the NCAA Track and Field Championships in Sacramento, Calif. Leading the way in honors were freshman Porscha Lucas and junior Simone Facey. They each earned three certificates.
Lucas and Facey won honors as members of the 400-meter relay, which won the national championship. They also claimed honors in the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes.
Seniors Tresha Henry and Clora Williams claimed two awards each. Henry won awards from both relay races and Williams won for the 400 dash as well as the championship 400 relay. Williams moved into second place in A&M's all-time All-America awards list. She received seven for her career.
Other women receiving awards were senior Kasey Onwuchekwa in the shot put, junior Jessica Wingfield for javelin, sophomore Katie Baker in the 1600 relay, freshman Elizabeth Adeoti in the 400 relay and freshman Sandy Wooten in the 1600 relay.
The men's side had five award winners. The 1600 relay team came in second place and all won awards. The team consisted of senior Marcus Pitre, junior A.C. Robinson, sophomore Justin Oliver, and freshman Bryant McCombs.
Freshman Zuheir Sharif also earned an award for his triple jump performance.
