If you have to start out an article by saying, "I'm no scientist so I'm going to go by what everyone else is saying," then you shouldn't be writing about the subject, or you should do your research. The University is safer than others by even having tests run on lab employees. Much of your reporting on this incident has been biased and ill informed. Please find out what's really going on by having a grasp of the subject at hand, and don't simply follow what the rest of the media is saying.
