"I enjoy the challenge of keeping the camp fresh and exciting," Woodward said. He helps come up with the theme for camp and plans new games related to the theme. Woodward started as a counselor with YAP in 1997, became recreational director in 1998 and associate director in 1999. Glenda Griffin, the previous director of YAP, retired in 2002.
"Here in the next couple of years I am looking to give up the directorship of YAP only because I know that after 12 years it is time for someone else to take over."
Many campers say they will miss Woodward when he leaves because he's brought so much joy into their lives. "He's a good director," said Ryan Baker, a YAP camper. "He's been here for a while, and he knows what he's doing."
