British anti-immigration party leader to visit campus
By: Rick Rojas
Griffin will speak on the spread of Islam in Europe in a speech titled Islam, Terror and Western Civilization at 7 p.m. Thursday in 308 Rudder. The speech is sponsored by Aggie Independents.
He will address the influx of immigrants from Islamic nations and why the British have the right to defy that, said Preston Wiginton, a freshman political science major, who organized Griffin's speech.
Griffin is the chairman of the British National Party, BNP, which is committed to stemming and reversing the tide of non-white immigration and restoring the overwhelmingly white makeup of the British population that existed in Britain prior to 1948 through legal changes, negotiation and consent, according to the party's constitution.
"They're British in a civic sense, but they aren't the same as the native people of these islands," Griffin said in an interview with Sky News in Britain. "Our forefathers built this country, worked for this country and, in many cases, died for our country and its freedoms, and that gives our people first call on rights in this country - that's how we believe."
Wiginton said that it is important for students to attend so they can hear from both sides of the coin, and with all the controversy surrounding Griffin, they should hear his story straight from the horse's mouth.
