Support the team

With all of the controversy over the football program this year, it seems as if the 12th man has forgotten what it's all about - supporting the team itself. We stand for our fellow student on the field during the games on Saturdays in Kyle Field, but recently many have been concentrating on the negative events happening off the field. In order for the 12th man to support its team once again, students should greet the team as they return to the Bright Athletic Complex after Saturday's game against Missouri. This was a regular occurrence until recent years, but it is something that can show the players how much we still support them. Aggies are not bandwagon fans, so whether we win, get outscored, or run out of time, students who didn't make the road trip to Columbia, MO. to support the team at the game should meet them once they return to show their support after. Once the time of return has been confirmed, it will be posted on the Student Government Association website, sga.tamu.edu.

It might be a short Corps trip, but the Corps and the Fightin' Texas Aggie Band need to be in attendance. C'mon Aggies! Show the world how classy you are!

On a side note, I think Fran should not be our coach, BUT we should support him as long as he is one of us and we should wish him the best in his next career. (Continued…)

Honestly, nobody asked for your opinion. Eric, I am sure you meant well and you almost have a leg to stand on here. Nick, this is none of your business, if you want to give crap to some corps kids for talking trash about Fran thats fine but dont go giving others crap. (Continued…)

I too agree that as Aggies, it is right of us to support our team at all costs, as we always have, as we do now, and as we always will. With all due respect to the three gentlemen who feel empowered enough to dictate to us what it is to be an Aggie, but they have no business, whatsoever, to make such assumptions and create expectations for us to live by. Chris and "Are you kidding me?",

Did we not as a student body elect these three individuals (well, not the corps dude) to their positions?? Did we not have the choice as a student body to elect someone other than those people to their positions?? Are you not Fightin Texas Aggies through and through?

Grow up and support your school, and those you've elected. (Continued…)

I would like to thank Chris and Matt for actually posting their names with their comments. Doing so lets me take their comments seriously. With that said I feel I can respond to all of these comments simultamously and I find it interesting that most of the comments don't even focus on the content of the article itself but on the supporters of it. In my three years here I have not missed the football team come home except once when I had to deal with a death in the family. I find it insulting that these three have written this. (Continued…)

You Aggies are out of your minds..."we need to support the team no matter what, like we always have, and always will." There is no way to support the team when you are going after the coaches head. (Continued…)

Regardless of tradition, or who's being a good Aggie and who's not, I find it difficult to support the A&M football program when I see Fran on national tv with a smirk on his face in the final seconds of a sound 42-14 beating by OU. (Continued…)

You all need to remember that the football players are just kids like yourself. Do you remember when you participated in sports, band, drama, speech, anything that had a competition? Do you remember what it felt like if you won or lost, and if there was someone there to cheer you on no matter the outcome? These kids feel the same way. (Continued…)

J H '09, if you reread what I said, you'll find that we whole-heartedly agree. I think that we should support our team and greet them after the game, win or lose, but that choice is up to students and they are no less an Aggie if they don't. (Continued…)
