  • Born Dec. 19, 1954 in Norwood, Mass.

  • Raised in Northborough, Mass.

  • 1970-1973 attended Algonquin Regional High School

  • 1974-1977 attended Central Connecticut State where he played offensive and defensive lineman

  • 1981 hired by Jackie Sherrill as a general assistant at Pittsburgh and stays on until 1982

  • 1983-1984 hired to be offensive line coach at Tulane

  • 1985-1987 returned home to Massachusetts as the offensive line coach at Holy Cross

  • 1988 promoted to offensive coordinator at Holy Cross

  • 1989-1993 began first stint in Aggieland, serving as offensive line coach for A&M

  • 1994 took a one-year job at California-Los Angeles as offensive line coach

  • 1995-1996 returned to A&M as offensive line coach and offered promotion to offensive coordinator but leaves for the NFL before taking the promotion

  • 1997-1998 took first NFL coaching job as tight end coach for Green Bay Packers under Mike Holmgren

  • 1999 followed Holmgren to the Seattle Seahawks and was promoted to offensive coordinator

  • 2000 took first head coaching job with the Green Bay Packers

  • 2001 promoted to dual position of head coach and general manager

  • 2001-2004 took the Packers to four consecutive postseason appearances

  • 2003 Green Bay Packers broke franchise record for rushing yards

  • 2004 Packers broke franchise record for passing yards

  • During time as Packers general manager, drafted Javon Walker, Aaron Kampman, Nick Barnett and Scott Wells

  • 2006-2007 offensive coordinator and assistant coach for Houston Texans under Gary Kubiak

  • Monday introduced as the 28th head football coach in Texas A&M history

    It should not be overlooked that it appears he has 15+ years of assistant coaching experience and 4 years playing experience at various college programs. (Continued…)

    I am from wisconsin, where mike sherman used to coach the Packers and he is a pretty good coach. i am excited to see what he can do for the aggies!

    i dont know about this guy. he sort of has a rocky record, with him getting fired in 2005, i hope byrne knows what hes doing, because i am sick and tired of mediocre coaches, not meeting standards of the 12th man. (Continued…)
