Aggies should show respect

I am absolutely appalled and infuriated by the blatant disrespect that certain so-called "Aggies" have displayed toward Texas A&M professors and students. The second half of my Monday evening political science class was continuously disrupted by a large number of students clamoring in the hallway, anxious to get into our classroom. Clearly, the room was designated for our class at the time. However, these students were so insistent on gaining immediate access to the room that they repeatedly knocked on and opened the doors, waving and shouting at those of us attempting to learn information that will be on our upcoming final. People in the hallway could be heard from the front row, encouraging those of us in class to leave, cheering students' departures and mocking the professor both before and after he approached them to ask that they quiet down and move away from the doors. As soon as class was dismissed, those waiting in the hallway didn't even bother to let us out of the room before they pushed and shoved their way in. What happened to the Aggie reputation of being friendly and courteous? The only title these students deserve certainly isn't appropriate for printing.

ELizabeth. I thank you for this article, because I was sitting in the same class at this time, and it was extraordinarily distracting.

It is ridiculous that our professor had to walk up and ask them to be quiet once, let alone twice. (Continued…)

Aggies are very inconsiderate. Most of the students are rich kids trying to be "cool", but instead act immature. "Aggies are supposed to be so much better", why is that exactly? Walking to class everyday I see a bunch of kids who still think they're in high school. (Continued…)

This is my 5th year here and I am a much different person than the immature fresh high school graduate who first moved into the dorm. I will be walking across the stage in a few weeks and I have to commend those who do graduate. (Continued…)

She's probably in her fifth year because she has to work her way through college. I believe the discourtesy displayed by "Mr. Franchione" as well as these students are systemic of our nation as a whole. (Continued…)

Unfortunately the A&M campus has lost its Aggie pride. We claim to uphold traditions, yet we can't even say Howdy. I started here Fall 2003 and I've watched this campus slowly morph more and more into 2%er nation. (Continued…)

Being MBA class of 04, I found aggies to be the most arrogant country folk of all time. Not my class in particular but all the undergraduates. They have no values or morals for that matter. (Continued…)

Oh yah, Simon Fraser University is pretty impressive.

"SFU has been rated as Canada's best comprehensive university (1993, 1997, 1998 and 2000) in the annual rankings of Canadian universities in Maclean's magazine and has consistently placed at or near the top of the publication's national evaluations. (Continued…)

UTPA would be the university of texas-pan american. I visited their campus and their kids are more respectful, and more eager to learn. Here it's all screwed up. (Continued…)
