Two Texas A&M football players have been suspended from the football team after they were arrested by College Station police on Wednesday.

Yemi Babalola, 21 year-old starting offensive tackle, and Brandon Joiner, 18 year-old defensive end, werearrested in connection with the burglary of an off campus apartment, which took place last Thursday, according to College Station police.

Drug paraphernalia was also allegedly found when the police searched the homes of the accused men.

Joiner is charged with possession of two ounces of marijuana as well as possession of ecstasy and hydrocodone. Babalola is being charged with two counts of robbery and the possession of two ounces of marijuana.

Last Thursday, two men entered the Callaway Villas Apartments around 3:45 p.m. wearing hooded shirts and sun glasses. At least one of them is said to have had a gun, according to a news release from the College Station Police Department.

The news release also indicates that one resident was injured upon the men's entry. Two other residents are also said to have been bound with tape as a third resident made an escape through a window.

A&M athletic director Bill Byrne and interim head coach Gary Darnell agreed that both players should be suspended until the charges are cleared. A&M's new head football coach Mike Sherman is not yet part of the day-to-day functions of the team and did not collaborate on the decision, according to a report from the Houston Chronicle.

"When Coach (Gary) Darnell called last night to inform me of the charges, he and I agreed that these young men need to be suspended from the football team," said Byrne in the news release. "They will remain suspended until cleared of any wrongdoing."
