Faculty find dead professor after missed final
By: Matthew Dunnam
Faculty members found Morgan's body after he was absent for a final exam. Authorities said they do not know the cause of death.
"When we got there with paramedics, he had been dead for some time," University Police Department Lt. Ben Crenshaw said. "At the moment, we don't know how he died, but there was no sign of a struggle. His office and desk looked completely neat and normal, and nothing seemed out of place."
As to be expected, Morgan's students and colleagues were surprised to hear of his death.
"I was completely shocked when I heard the news," said Dennis O'Neal, head of the mechanical engineering department. "He was such a well-respected professor and really funny, too."
April Lilly, asenior mechanical engineering major said, "When I heard students talking about what had happened in the hallway, I just couldn't believe it."
"He was the most intelligent professor I have ever had," Lilly said. "His death is a huge loss to this school, and I will always remember him."
