The Student Conference on National Affairs will include students from Texas A&M University, Baylor University, United States Military Academy at West Point, Rice University and the University of Texas Thursday through Saturday at the Rudder Auditorium.

The topic will be "Creating A Sustainable Global Energy Policy." Students will have the opportunity to interact with industry leaders and public figures such as Mark Albers, senior vice president of Exxon Mobile, Ambassador Yashar Aliyev of Azerbaijan and George Allen, former senator and governor of Virginia, while working in groups to develop innovative proposals for national sustainable energy policies.

Freshman Stephanie Hinds, SCONA's director of internal affairs, said that it is beneficial for the students involved and the economic leaders alike.

"We are the future," said Hinds, a political science major. "Our country's leaders want to hear what we have to say."

Registration will be open through Thursday morning. Tickets start at $35 and can be purchased at the MSC Box Office; the complete conference schedule and more information can be found at SCONA.tamu.edu.

Other guest lectures at Rudder Auditorium will include executives Thomas Werner of SunPower Corp and Eddie O'Connor of Airtricity.
