A new survey of Latino preferences in the presidential primaries, the Texas A&M/Latino Decisions Poll found that 62 percent of Latinos plan to vote for Sen. Hillary Clinton in the Democratic Primary, giving her a wide lead over Sen. Barack Obama among Latinos in the state of Texas. Hispanic Texas voters also favor both Clinton and Obama over Sen. John McCain, the leading Republican candidate, in the general election. Texas A&M political science professor Sylvia Manzano interviewed 500 Latino registered voters in Texas last week. The survey was available in English and Spanish, and all interviews were conducted by bilingual interviewers throughout all counties in Texas proportionate to the Latino population.
