Texas A&M soccer team defeated the Oklahoma Sooners 5-0 Sunday at the Aggie Soccer Stadium in front 2,600.

The 10-1-1 Aggies improved their unbeaten streak to nine consecutive games, extending the 1-10 Sooners' losing streak to nine games. The Aggies improved to 14-0 against the Sooners.

"We talked earlier this week as we were preparing for these matches against Oklahoma State and Oklahoma, that this is a reminder that a lot of big games are decided by set pieces," Head Coach G Guerrieri said. "If you have a free kick or if you have an opportunity to put balls in scoring positions, you have to finish it off."

Senior midfielder Laura Grace Robinson started the scoring for the Aggies at 15:46 with a header off of a free kick from freshman midfielder Rebecca Herrera. At 25:08, freshman defender Brianne Young scored with a header off a corner kick from Herrera. Sophomore midfielder Rachel Shipley scored the final goal of the first half in the 31st minute.

In a rough and physical second half that had 28 combined fouls, three yellow cards and one red card resulting in an ejection, the Aggies applied pressure on the offensive side of the ball with 15 shots. Keeping with the physical nature of the half, in the 76th minute of play junior defender Amber Gnatzig scored on a penalty kick. The Aggies rounded out the scoring for the game with a goal off a free kick by Young at 84:16.

"We didn't play real well today, but we won five to nothing so I guess that's a sign of a team that's moving forward," Guerrieri said. "Our possessions weren't as crisp as I'd like, and Sunday afternoon games are hard in that aspect. In the Big 12, a lot of the time that's the difference. It's hard to play a tough game on Friday night, then come in and play a game on Sunday afternoon."

The reigning Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week for the second straight week and National Player of the Week sophomore goalkeeper Kelly Dyer continued with her consistent play, resulting in her third shutout in four weeks. She posted four saves in the game.
