Zhong Lin Wang, director of the Center for Nanostructure Characterization at the Georgia Institute of Technology, will speak about alternate sources of energy from a nanotechnology standpoint as the first speaker for the 2008-2009 University Distinguished Lecture Series. Wang will discuss how nanotechnology can contribute to providing alternate energy sources. He will also explore how people can obtain energy from their living environment with a specific focus on mechanical energy. His introduction will be about nanogenerators and generating electricity using sonic waves and body movements. The lecture series will cover topics ranging from nanotechnology to oceanography to baseball. The lectures will be delivered by distinguished professors from A&M and other universities, The lecture will be at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the auditorium of the Annenberg Presidential Conference Center. Free tickets are available from the MSC Box Office in Rudder Tower.
