MAIL CALL

Every day, I hear people talking about how they wish the football team was winning more games. We can get into debates about whether or not we are getting better, but that is not the issue. We, as students, have no control over the performance of the players. However, we do have control over one thing: showing up and yelling the entire game. I am appalled at how many people want to see a win, but they are not willing to stay and support the team. Do you think it makes the players want to play harder when they look up and notice that half the student section is empty in the third quarter? I don't think so. So either be a fan and stay the whole time, or don't go at all, but for pete's sake stop riding the fence and pretending to be a true Aggie.

It is a football game. Maybe the students figured out that they had better things to do with their time, such as study for their classes.

I also don't understand why people leave during the game because they had to pay to be there, so why leave and waste your money?

Get over it

That is exactly why we have the right to leave, we paid for the damn ticket. Get over yourselves. I have left games early when we were winning big, funny how no one yells 2% then. (Continued…)

No one is denying you the right to leave whenever you want, but you're still a 2%er for doing it. You are, in fact, completely wrong. Staying for the entire game, whether we're winning or losing, does make me a better aggie than you. (Continued…)

Gonzo,

Please, just throw in a "Highway 6 runs both ways" and I'll completely feel like I've gone back in time to when I attended. Trust me, as I come to A&M to recruit graduating students, I automatically nix any interviewees that exude attitudes like yours. (Continued…)

Comments that I see here do not make me proud to be an Aggie---live and let live. Support your school, you will wish you did when you are gone. Living outside of TX for the past three years (husband is in the Air Force) we get so excited to even see an Aggie car sticker or ring. (Continued…)

There are four teams in the Big 12 ranked in the top 10, A&M is ranked like around #125, and you're complaining about the fans? If we actually had some division I players who could play division I, this wouldn't even be an issue. (Continued…)

I love how students discount each other ("2 percenters") because they don't fulfill the stereotypical Aggie mold. Perhaps our student body needs an attitude change. (Continued…)

No kidding, Jonathan. The first thing I realized when I got to A&M is that there is no such thing as a stereotypical Aggie. At a bare minimum, an Aggie is a person who goes/went to A&M and has respect for this school. (Continued…)
