Students can vote early in the Memorial Student Center to avoid the Nov. 4 rush.

The MSC is one of five locations in Brazos County that is open for early voting through Oct. 31. Other early voting locations include Grace Bible Church in College Station, Galilee Baptist Church in Bryan, Arena Hall in Bryan and Brazos County Courthouse in Bryan.

Friday hours for voting are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The polls will be open Saturday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Beginning Monday, early voting polls will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

"It is so much easier to do it in the MSC," said Ryan Rieger, senior political science major and student advocate of community relations on the Student Government Association Executive Council. "On the actual election day, the lines are going to be long and you have to go to your respective precincts."

Many students recognize this convenience and will choose to take advantage of the opportunity during the next week.

"I think it's important to vote early because the lines are shorter and you really know who you want," said Courtney Edwards, a freshman economics major.

For students not registered to vote in Brazos County, there are two early voting options. Many counties will continue to accept applications for absentee voting until Tuesday. These ballots must then be returned to the county voting clerk by 7 p.m. on Nov.4.

Early voting in Brazos County is available to those registered outside of the county.

"If a student is registered in another county, they can vote on a limited ballot," said a spokesperson for the Brazos County Registration Office. "They can only do that during early voting, and they can only do that at the Brazos County Courthouse."

After Oct. 31, students must wait until Nov. 4 to vote. On election day, citizens must report to the polling place corresponding to their precinct. A list of precincts and their voting locations can be found on the Web at www.brazosvotes.org. The website contains a link to the Texas Secretary of State website, where students can use their name or Texas driver's license number to look up their precinct.

For all voting times and locations, students need to bring a driver's license, voter identification card, passport or other form of government issued identification. A Texas A&M student ID will suffice.

"In between classes, just take a few minutes and go vote," Rieger said.
