Veterans will be recognized on campus at a vigil and wreath ceremony sponsored by Silver Wings, a civilian organization associated with Arnold Air Society and the Air Force Association. Arnold Air Society works to recruit leaders from Air Force Reserve Officers' Training Corps to become officers in the Air Force. Silver Wings is a civilian branch of this mission, which works to promote civilian leadership and aerospace knowledge while supporting those in the Air Force.

Texas A&M is home to the 11th chapter of the national organization. The group will have events on campus Tuesday to celebrate American veterans and recognize their deeds.

"This will be a time to reflect the veterans that have fought past and present battles in recognition of their answers to the call of the United States Armed Forces," said Andrew Prado of Silver Wings.

The wreath ceremony will be at Albritton Tower at 11 a.m and the vigil takes place at 8 p.m. in Academic Plaza.

"Many veterans chose to give to the nation that gave so much to them," Prado said. "By these regards, the Vigil will recognize the endeavors of America's soldiers and encourage the people of this campus to support the soldiers of this nation."

Silver Wings said that these events and fundraiser are meant to support the men and women fighting for freedom; they are not a display of political ideas."The Red Friday shirts are a way to continually support the troops whether or not you support any war," Prado said.

The money raised will be used for care packages to send to deployed American troops.

Silver Wings is on campus Monday through Wednesday from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. in Rudder Plaza and on the Quad. The organization is selling "Red Friday" T-shirts for $8, "Support the Troops" bracelets for $1 and POW/MIA bracelets for $10.
