The Battalion sports desk extends an apology to the Texas A&M cross country teams. Friday, The Battalion ran an athletics award list praising athletes from soccer, volleyball and football. The oversight of the cross country teams was a severe mistake, as both were deserving of awards. The men's team finished the 2008 season with a No. 19 national ranking and a South Central region title. Senior Shadrack Songok won the individual region title and finished in 22nd place at the NCAA championship. For the women's team, junior Christina Munoz finished third overall in the South Central region, earning her second consecutive national meet berth. Munoz finished in 46th place at the NCAA championship. I, the sports editor, would like to personally apologize to Songok, Munoz, the men's and women's cross country teams and the track and field coaching staff. Congratulations on an excellent season.
