Head Coach Mark Turgeon stressed the team has continued improvement in the face of adversity and was backed up by senior guard Josh Carter and junior guard Donald Sloan.
"I think we're getting better," Turgeon said, "Obviously our record doesn't show that but I think we are getting better. I think we've improved our execution tremendously since Christmas. We're understanding how we have to play and our defense has gotten better."
Turgeon focused on the progression of players on an individual level at the news conference.
Turgeon said he is happy with how freshman Dash Harris has improved since Christmas. Harris saw little playing time before conference but has been averaging 15.6 minutes, 2.6 points and a rebound per game in Big 12 play.
"He's been good," Turgeon said. "I'm not sure how many minutes I've played him but its a lot more than I was planning on before the Big 12. I have a lot of confidence in him defensively and he plays really hard. He's guarding good players every night."
Carter, who leads the Aggies in scoring with 12.9 points per game, was impressed with Harris' leadership when he joined the squad in the fall.
"He's doing a great job," Carter said. "I knew when Dash first came in he didn't really look like a freshman. He was talking to everybody and looking like a leader."
Sloan's feet were slowing him down. Sloan has had an up and down season but is averaging 11.6 points and 3.7 rebounds per game. He is ranked No. 11 in assists and No. 9 in free throw percentage in the Big 12.
"He's had some huge blisters on his feet," Turgeon said. "Some new orthotics came in and he started having them after Christmas. His feet are healthy now though and I think he's made a nice run down the stretch."
