Olsen Field renovations in early stages

Renovations might be in Olsen Field's future, Texas A&M Athletic Director Bill Byrne said in an e-mail Wednesday. The project is in the preliminary stages and has yet to be approved by the University. No firm has been awarded a bid for the project, A&M baseball sports information director Matt Simon said in an e-mail, but the 12th Man Foundation has worked with Dana Larson and Roubal and Associates, the DLR Group, on proposed upgrades and tentative drawings.
The cost of the project has not been settled on and will not be until the University approves the project. No timetable has been set for the renovation of the 31-year-old stadium, but the 12th Man Foundation is exploring fundraising possibilities.
The DLR Group was behind the 2008 renovations of Texas' Disch-Falk Field and the 2001 construction of Nebraska's Haymarket Park. DLR was founded in 1966 and has offices throughout the U.S.
"Olsen Field is one of the greatest places to watch college baseball in the country and mainly because of the great support of our students and the community," Byrne said. "But there is no doubt we would like to make some improvements in the near future."
