On Saturday, the Texas A&M men's basketball team will look to split the season series with Oklahoma State when the Cowboys visit Reed Arena. In the Aggies' previous meeting against Oklahoma State, A&M lost the conference opener on the road, 72-61. The Cowboys jumped to an early lead, and the Aggies struggled to recover before losing. "Last time, they came out and got to a big lead," said junior guard Derrick Roland. "We've got to come out playing from the beginning instead of playing catch up." The Cowboys are 13-6 overall and 2-3 in conference play. "We just have to make basketball plays," Turgeon said. The Aggies, who are 16-5 overall and 2-4 in the Big 12, broke a three game losing streak with a win against Texas Tech Wednesday. "Our confidence should be high going into Saturday," Turgeon said.
Women
The No. 7 Texas A&M women's basketball team will return home to Reed Arena on Saturday to take on a struggling Kansas team. A&M (16-3, 4-2) is coming off two road wins at Oklahoma State and Texas to end a tough four-game stretch against Top 25 opponents. Fourth in the Big 12 standings, the Aggies are two games behind first place Oklahoma. The Aggies will look to leading-scorer Takia Starks to spark the offense at home. The senior is averaging 18.8 points per game in conference and posted a season-high 26 points against the Longhorns on Wednesday in Austin. Kansas (12-6, 1-4) is in the midst of a three-game losing streak and is 3-4 on the road in 2008-2009. Junior Danielle McCray is coming off a 26-point performance against Kansas State and is averaging 19.1 points and eight rebounds per game. The Jayhawks have not beaten A&M since 2003 and have dropped the previous five meetings against the Aggies.
