Women's track team wins in New York, men finsh in fourth

The Texas A&M men's and women's track teams traveled to New York City Friday for a two-day meet at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational.
The women took first place thanks to a fourth place finish in the final race of the meet and the men took fourth place overall.
The women held a two point advantage over Baylor heading into the 4x400-meter relay but a time of 3:39.90 bested Baylor's time of 3:40.63. The women won the title with 72 points and Baylor came in second with 67.
The meet marks the second time in three years the Aggie women took the crown in New York. Connecticut placed third with 56 points ahead of Brigham Young (49), North Carolina (45) and Louisiana State (43).
The Aggie men took fourth place with a total of 55 points, 27 of those coming from the triple jump. The Baylor men won the title with 65 points. LSU took second with 60 points while Texas finished with 59.5 points and Oregon 40 points.
The triple jump was responsible for two school records with Yasmine Regis breaking an 11-year-old record in leaping held by Detrich Clariett with a winning distance of 44-4 (13.52). Zuheir Sharif also set a school record with a winning leap of 53-11 (16.43).
