Troy Robert Marschang, a junior petroleum engineering major, died Saturday morning in an auto accident on State Highway 6.

Marschang, 19, was driving a 1999 Saturn two-door. The police report stated he failed to negotiate a turn safely and left the roadway on the left side. His vehicle rolled several times and he was ejected from the car. Marschang was not wearing a seatbelt. No other vehicles were involved.

The accident occurred at 4:10 a.m. 7.6 miles from Navasota. It was not raining at the time, and weather conditions were reported as clear/cloudy.

He was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 5:13 a.m.

Among the family and friends that survive Marschang are his grandparents, Herb and Marge Marschang.

Herb said that Troy's death was a terrible loss and he reflected on time spent with Troy during Christmas.

"He was a wonderful grandson," he said.

Herb said that Troy had seen a lot of the world. He went to high school at the International School of Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia where he served as the class president and graduated in 2007. The previous summer he traveled to Ireland for the Texas A&M debate team.

Marge said Troy loved school and Texas especially A&M.

"He was just an all-around good boy," she said.

She said he participated in many sports and especially liked baseball and golf. Troy worked for Chevron Corp in Houston.

Troy is also survived by his fiancé Kassi Montgomery, a junior biomedical science major.

Troy's funeral services will take place in Illinois.
