The Texas A&M University Writing Center has been helping students focus their writing assignments and get better essay grades for years. As a part of International Writing Centers Week, a global celebration recognizing writing centers and the individuals who work there since 2006, the Center will have a Valentine station set up on the first floor of the Sterling C. Evans library Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. For two days, passersby will be able to stop by the station and make free Valentines. The station will consist of a table loaded with supplies provided by the Writing Center. Last year, the Center provided templates, crafting materials such as cardboard, glue and candy, and a sample of romantic quotes for those feeling slightly less than innovative. This year promises to see much of the same. "Writing is universal and even a Valentine card communicates," said Steve Kaminczak, assistant director of the University Writing Center. The event was organized by Masha Sukovic, the graduate student assistant director of the Writing Center. The Writing Center is located on the second floor of Evans Library, Suite 1.214. It is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday. Students may walk in or set up appointments for writing advice.
