The Texas A&M softball team lost four of five games this weekend at Baton Rouge, La. in the Easton Classic Tournament.

On the weekend, the Aggies played three teams, Ohio State, Sam Houston State University, and No. 21 ranked LSU.

The Aggies opened the weekend with a Friday win against SHSU 8-3.

Freshman outfielder Kelsey Orsak had her first multi-hit game, going 2 for 3. Junior third baseman Alex Reynolds went a flawless 3-3 on the game, scoring three times and posting one RBI.

"Alex is in the zone," said A&M Head Coach Jo Evans. "We moved her in the four-hole and she really relishes that. It's exciting to see her get opportunities and to make the most of them."

In the top of the first, the Aggies quickly got ahead of the Bearkats. With a two-out walk from sophomore Natalie Villarreal followed by three consecutive hits A&M caught an early 3-0 lead.

Orsak scored in the second after a line drive single from Villarreal. The Aggies then led 4-0.

"We came off of a tough 14-inning game with Sam Houston State and I love how we just changed our whole mentality and got up there and were very aggressive," Evans said.

The Aggies scored more in the 3rd, 6th, and 7th innings as well. A&M's 12-hit offensive effort was a season high and progressed their record to 5-1.

Freshman Rebecca Arbino sealed her second win of the season against the Bearkats. She held SHSU scoreless until the 6th inning, when the Bearkats got three unearned runs after an A&M error.

The Aggie squad went in to a down spiral after the win on Friday, dropping its next four games on Saturday and Sunday.

On the second day of the tournament, the Aggies played back to back games against the Ohio State Buckeyes and the LSU Tigers.

In the Ohio State game, the Aggies were defeated 9-3 in seven innings.

A&M had runners in scoring position in the first two innings, but were unable to score.

The Buckeyes were retired in order in the 1st and 2nd, but scored four runs in the top of the third to draw first blood off of three hits and one A&M error.
