The Aggie Assurance Program is a disgrace to A&M. The University was founded on honor and strong moral principles, most of which is conservative and has helped make A&M what it is. Why would you attempt to flee from what has helped make A&M great? Paying tuition for students whose parents make less than $60,000 per year is a socialist policy that has no place in higher education, scratch that, no place in America. Annual household income is an arbitrary guideline, who is to say that someone whose parents make $55,000 per year is any more deserving than a student whose parents make $65,000 per year. What about the parents who choose not to work? Is rewarding them the right solution? How many parents quit working, live off their spouse's income, so the income falls under $60,000. Does this send the right message? Does this promote the right things? Does the potential problems and how fundamentally wrong this bill is diminish A&M? I think it does. A&M has prospered over 120 years without such a radical, socialist policy, and it will continue to prosper without it. I love A&M, and I don't want to see it go down.
