In response to "Viva la sexual revolution" on Feb. 13:

As a proud member of the 43 percent of students who were not sexually active last year, I was shocked when, in his Valentine's Day article, Kenny Ryan considered the fact that Aggies are below the national average of sexually active students as shameful when it should be applauded. Hopefully, this shows that most Aggies realize there is no such thing as "safe sex." No form of "safe sex" can prevent all STDs and no manner of birth control, save abstinence, can guarantee the avoidance of an unwanted pregnancy. Not intending to start a family does not mean you are safe from it happening anyway. Ryan fails to mention the damaging emotional effects from sex without lasting commitment. America is indeed in desperate need of a sexual revolution, although not one of the type I believe Ryan would approve of. We need to realize that sex is more than a pasttime. It is a genuine giving of self which can only be done within marriage.
