After losing its last five games, the No. 19 Texas A&M softball team will try to re-track itself this weekend at the Marriott University of Houston Invitational in Houston.

The Aggies will play five games on the weekend, facing a different opponent in each of the matches.

A&M opens the tournament on Friday with a doubleheader against the Northern Illinois University Huskies and the Prairie View A&M Panthers.

The tournament will be the first 2009 season action for the Huskies, who finished last season with a record of 13-30.

Sophomore NIU pitcher Joreigh Landers led the Huskies in win percentage on the mound in 2008. In her debut season last Spring, she posted a record of 4-7 with 45 strikeouts, 82 innings pitched, and an ERA of 5.16.

A&M leads the all-time series between the two teams 8-3.

Prairie View A&M, which finished its 2008 season with a record of 15-28, has played the Aggies just twice all-time, losing both bouts.

The Lady Panthers are coming off of a win against Texas Southern University this Tuesday with a score of 3-0.

Prairie View recently inducted a new Head Coach into the program. Lana Williams has been a part of the Lady Panthers' coaching staff since 2001 was an infielder for Prairie View in the past.

The Aggies will face the McNeese State University Cowgirls and the University of Houston Cougars on Saturday.

The Cowgirls, which are 4-22 against the Aggies all-time, have a 2-10 record in 2009 with a pair wins over Louisiana Tech.

Sophomore utility fielder Whitney Corbello leads the team in home runs, batting average, doubles, and RBIs on the season.

Senior pitcher Bethany Stefinsky has McNeese State's only two wins on the season and has recorded an ERA of 5.59 with 39 strikeouts and 36.1 innings pitched.

The No. 21 ranked Cougars are 5-4 in 2009 after a 2-1 win in Houston on Wednesday against the Baylor Bears.

Overall, the Aggies lead the series between the two teams 12-3 including two wins in the 2008 season, when Houston was ranked No. 14 in the country.
