I must say I found the Mardi Gras article rather appalling. Though I cannot speak for the true intent, I feel that the column was in a fair amount of poor taste. As a Christian, I must concede that sadly, many do not live their lives truly according to their faith. However, I feel this article unfairly portrayed all Christians in a lowly manner, as individuals who use excuses to get away with any actions that contradict the Bible. As the world moves away from its conservative roots to a secular worldview, there is a growing struggle between these two perspectives. The question becomes should we live a godly life or one the secular world calls us to live? Jesus was clear on his perspective in Matthew 16:26: "What does it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and forfeits his soul?"
