I really appreciated The Battalion's neutral approach to the Elsa Murano situation in the article "Truth." Having read both this article and its predecessor in The Anthem, I see one fundamental flaw in The Anthem's portrayal of the situation. In publishing an entirely one-sided story, The Anthem simultaneously issued a moral accusation against Murano for "breaking the Aggie Honor Code" and broke the Aggie Honor Code itself by cheating Dr. Murano - and others closely familiar with her situation - of the opportunity to give the other side of the story. I find myself very skeptical of any publication willing to go to such ends for the sake of exposé-glory. Not only did The Anthem's article neglect to mention all the facts; it discredited the Honor Code to an extent by exploiting students' faith in it. As an Aggie, I am embarrassed to be in any way associated with a publication so juvenile and unprofessional and will, from now on, look to other papers like The Battalion to get all the news and not just some of it.
