The No. 19 Texas A&M softball team was unable to stop the long ball in its 5-3 loss to the Texas Longhorns Wednesday at the Aggie Softball Complex.

Texas, which lost the previous four meetings against the Aggies, drove out two two-run home runs in the game, both in the fifth inning.

The Longhorns' first run happened during the second at-bat of the game, off of a RBI double from freshman short stop Alexis Bennett, leading Texas into an early one-run lead.

After a one-run first, sophomore A&M pitcher Rhiannon Kliesing, 14-8 in 2009, locked in, allowing two hits in the next three innings while registering four strikeouts. Kliesing pitched all seven innings of the game, allowing eight hits, five runs and walking two.

In the bottom of the third inning, freshman Kelsey Orsak started the Aggie offense with an infield single, reaching on a bunt. Kliesing recorded the first of her two RBIs in the game with a single to right field, scoring the speedy Orsak.

A&M Head Coach Jo Evans said Rhiannon's offensive production was a good sign.

"It's great to see Rhi get back in the offense," Evans said. "We put her up in the two hole and it paid off."

In the fourth inning, the Aggies scored another run to take a one-run lead. Senior catcher Erin Glasco, who was 3 for 3 for the evening, knocked her second hit of the game, a single to left field.

Sophomore outfielder Bailey Schroeder, who started her first game after leaving the line up with a separated shoulder injury, laced a single to score sophomore pinch runner Andrea Tovar.

"Bailey stepped up big for us with her RBI," Evans said. "I was really proud of her to get that big hit out there despite battling with her shoulder."

Texas regained the lead by putting a four spot in the top of the fifth. Senior center fielder Kacie Gaskin started the Longhorns off by reaching on an Aggie error. The error came back to haunt A&M when the next batter, all-time Texas home run leader Desiree Williams hit a two run home run to dead center.
