The No. 12 Texas A&M men's tennis team was washed down stream in the Battle of the Brazos on Wednesday, losing to No. 7 Baylor in Waco 5-2.

The Aggies dropped the doubles point for the third consecutive match giving the Bears a 1-0 lead.

The nationally ranked No. 3 doubles team of senior Conor Pollock and sophomore Austin Krajicek was upset 8-5 by Baylor's No. 74 duo of senior David Galic and sophomore Jordan Rux. The only Aggie team to take a doubles match was the combination of junior Marcus Lunt and sophomore Wil Spencer, who won 8-5 at No. 3 doubles.

Sophomore Alexey Grigorov tied the match 1-1, winning at the No. 4 singles position 6-1, 6-4. That was the closest the Aggies got as Baylor went on to take four of the five remaining singles matches.

"We needed to win the doubles point tonight," said Texas A&M Head Coach Steve Denton. "We won at No. 3 doubles and had a chance to win at No. 2. For whatever reason, Conor and Austin have been struggling. We were the favorite in that match, but give Baylor credit."

At No. 1 singles, the battle between two players ranked in the Top 20 nationally, No. 19 Pollock and No. 7 Denes Lukacs, was won by Baylor as Lukacs defeated Pollock in straight sets 7-5, 6-4. Lukacs has yet to be defeated in conference play and with the win extended his singles winning streak to 11 consecutive matches.

The Bears extended their lead to 3-1 as Lunt fell in straight sets to Julian Bley 6-3, 6-3 at the No. 5 singles position.

The final three matches took three sets to decide a winner. Baylor's Marcus Horny clinched the match for the Bears by handing freshman Colin Hoover his first conference loss at the No. 6 singles position 2-6, 6-2, 6-2.

Spencer managed to remain unbeaten in Big 12 play at the No. 3 singles position after battling to defeat Baylor's Dominik Mueller. Mueller took the first set 6-2, but Spencer forced the game to a third set winning the second 7-6 in a tie-breaker.

A&M will play Nebraska Friday at the George P. Mitchell Tennis Center.
