After reading the column about campus unity, I am disappointed in the attitude that some Corps members have taken regarding the ability of the general student population to be good Ags. As a supporter of traditions and student life here at A&M, I am offended by the claim that members of the Corps of Cadets are the lone keepers of tradition. What about organizations like Howdy Camp, Fish Camp, or T-Camp that are dedicated to welcoming EVERY Aggie into our family? What about organizations like Big Event or HOSTS that work each and every year to get Aggies involved with the community?

This University has been changing. There's something to be said for the fact that Corps members are educated on traditions and history. But to say, as some do, that the members of the Corps "keep this University going" is not entirely accurate.

Non-regs participate in traditions like Howdy and the 12th Man not because we have to, but because we want to. We resent the assumption that any non-reg running for Yell Leader must be doing it for the wrong reasons. Realizing that the Corps is not entitled to anything is the first step toward true unity.
