In examining the Bush administration's policy toward "enhanced interrogation techniques," one must consider that nearly all of its actions were a direct result of an attack on American soil on 9-11 that was unprecedented in both its enormity and style. These attackers were not organized governments but rather radical terrorists who wanted to push their ideology at a cost of innocent lives. Terrorist organizations have no laws governing how they fight a war, they just do whatever is necessary to spread their ideology; therefore, when the administration launched the war on terrorism, it quickly learned that it was fighting more than just a war, but rather a radical ideology. It is hard to win a war against someone willing to sacrifice their life to kill others. Therefore, when some of these known terrorists who had taken responsibility for various attacks were captured, American military and CIA officials took necessary steps to gain vital information helpful in preventing future attacks. American lives were at stake and our government was doing everything it could to prevent another terrorist attack. Sure many mistakes were made, but America has not had another major attack on its soil and we should be thankful for that.
